As one of the best of the waterfall hikes in Mount Rainier, Skyline Loop has something for everyone. It features glacier views, wildflowers, and a great view of multiple cascades. The Skyline Loop is one of the most well-known and popular trails at Mount Rainier, bringing in thousands of adventurers every year.
Skyline Loop is one of the harder trails in the park, with most of the terrain being steep and challenging. The trail has many branching pathways that can be taken, allowing for multiple variations and customization.
The hike begins near the Jackson Visitor Center, allowing guests to use the restroom, buy a snack or check out the exhibits before they take off. So, take a moment to learn about your trail, and then go experience it for yourself!
Sourced from the Ohanapecosh River, Silver Falls is known for its forceful 60 ft. drop, making it one of the more powerful waterfalls around Mount Rainier. It is surrounded by a large forest and is home to abundant and diverse wildlife. As one of the more family-friendly hikes, the Silver Falls Loop is fun for adults and kids.
While exploring the Silver Falls Loop, you are likely to come across other travelers. One of the best times to do this hike is from the months of June to September where you’ll see lots of people running, hiking, biking.

Considered to be one of the more unique waterfall hikes around Mount Rainier, Chenuis Falls consists of a series of cascades that ends in a pool. To arrive at this majestic sight, travel up Carbon River Road and then hike a small trail to the other side of the Carbon River. Connect with nature as you hike by enjoying some birdwatching and wildlife spotting.
The falls themselves are quite the view, with the lower section falling 168 ft. Even though you can't see the upper falls from the creek, Chenuis falls are still worth a visit
As you follow the trail leading to Chenuis Falls, you will venture through a large forest brimming with adventure. It is a moderate hike, with a few relatively difficult areas. Follow the old road through the trees and see if you can spot anything exciting!
The panoramic trail starts at the Paradise Visitor Center, following a paved section of the Skyline Trail through vibrant alpine meadows.

Accessed via the Van Trump Trial, Comet Falls is known for its beauty and magnificence. The trail is considered to be a challenging route, but also a beautiful one. This is a very popular path for hiking and running, so expect to meet some friends along the way.
Comet Falls comes from Van Trump Creek. Its highest drop falls over 300 ft. The hike leads to the base of the falls where you can relax, take pictures, and enjoy the sounds of rushing water. This particular path is not recommended in the winter, as snow can make it quite treacherous.
